About me
My name is Gust Maes. I am a PGA Holland professional and live in the Algarve Portugal, together with my girlfriend Mayke.
My passion for the game of golf and teaching golf led me to found ‘Out of Bounds Algarve Golf’.

At a young age I came into contact with golf and since then it has been a part of my life. I played at the highest levels as an amateur player for years, was playing as a club member in the major league competitions and as an individual in the Dutch Championships and the National Open.
Now working as a professional, taking part in matches is extremely important to me. In the past few years I have taken part in the PGA Benelux Monday Tour, where I achieved several victories. Now I'm living in Portugal I compete in the Algarve Pro Tour to ensure that I continue to improve my own game. My own experiences as a player are invaluable when coaching other players.
I graduated from the PGA Holland training to be a golf professional in 2013, and will gain my A-professional status in the course of 2018. In addition, I am a qualified Physical Education teacher, and have spent a number of years working in schools as a P.E. teacher. As a GolfPro, I have attended a number of additional training courses.

From 2013 to 2016 I taught golf at the Lochemse Golf and Countryclub ‘De Graafschap’. Here I coached golfers at many different levels, including some people with physical or mental handicaps. Additionally I coached Diderik Ankersmit, who in 2016 claimed the national title in the senior category (see references/reviews).

Thanks to my background as a P.E. teacher I am well-versed in didactics and methodology. I am well-placed to observe and analyse a player's game in order to give clear instructions to improve the level of play. My coaching aims to achieve the goals we set together.

In addition to my work on the golf course I organize exclusive golf holidays to our lovely accommodation Quinta da Vida. Together with Mayke we run a number of holiday homes at ‘Quinta da Vida’, near Moncarapacho, Portugal.
